Paid surveys are a sure fire way of making a little extra cash. The premise is you provided a company with information, they in turn pay you for that information. Now if you are looking for a quick fix to all your money problems this is not the way. Paid surveys allow you to earn money without needing to have any skills, this also means that you don't get much money for your time.
Ciao Surveys
I joined Ciao July 07 and have been completing surveys for them off and on since then. So for I have recieved 143 surveys from Ciao. The payment on each survey ranges from £1 - £5 but if your thinking your going to get £5 for every survey you can think again, it's mostly always at the lower end of the screen.
Depending on how fast you read and answer the surveys take from 15 minutes to 25 minutes. The payment is deposited into your Ciao account (which you have to setup before you can take the surveys). When you have more than £5 in your account you are able to withdraw it.

Vindale
Vindale is a little different from your normal paid survey site. Instead of getting sent a survey Vindale give you a list of all available surveys but there is a catch. Vindale say there are three steps to follow
Request the product or service. You decide which products you want to review
Evaluate the product. Try it out, and then fill out a short survey based on your experience.
Get paid. We add money to your Vindale account.
Point 1 says you request a product or service. What this really means is you buy a product. after you receive the product you evaluate it then comes the survey. The payment you get from Vindale is greater than your original purchase which makes up for the original expense and you get to keep the product. I see vindale as a win win situation. You get a product or service for free and a little golden handshake for giving your opinion. I've used Vindale roughly 12 times now and each time I've received payment when I completed the survey and kept the product. You can join Vindale through the picture below.
Lightspeed
Lightspeed is different from other paid website sites in that you can't just go to their website and register. To register you have to see one of their banners on the internet that takes you to the registraion page (provided at the botton of the page). This site doesn't offer you money striaght away for completing surveys but you do get points. The Points can be turned into a range of vouchers and more recently money into your PayPal account. At the moment £1 is equal to 115 Lightspeed points. Survey invitations are e-mailed or you can log on to the website to see if there are any available. This is a very clean looking website that is easy to navigate, I would recomend it to anyone.
Global Test Market is another well established paid survey site,
regularly sending out basic surveys to its users. GTM often sends out
surveys usually with a high pay rate to match. I like this site a lot as it's easy to sign up and the site layout is very simple.
The UK Survey Panel prides itself on the fact that they are completely
free to join and use, as is the same with all other paid survey sites
listed on this page. The survey site allows you to join for free, and
will contact you as soon as there are any surveys to complete. The
website has a relationship with lots of other paid survey sites, and
acts as a go-between using you and the other paid survey companies.
Zoompanel.com is a website that specialise in surveys for consumers and
web users that want to share opinions on a wide range of
products/services. The site is free to join, no sales or spam marketing is ever sent. The surveys tend to take between 2-30
minutes and Sometimes you can get 2 or 3 a week. The
zoompanel will send an e mail inviting you to take a survey, all you have to do is follow the link in the e-mail. The website is good, it is easy to navigate. You will earn points for completing a survey and the amount will vary although you will earn 10
points for a survey where you have attempted to take the survey but were screened out. Upon a completed survey the user can
earn between 50-200 zoom points. The range of rewards offered at 3000 rewards points, include a $50 marriott hotel voucher.
